The Australian Association of Progressive Repairers (AAPR) launched a national jobs challenge and free online industry job platform - Auto Skills, on 13 May in Sydney.

The platform, the culmination of a year of development and consultation with the industry, was introduced to industry stakeholders at the official opening to the body repair trade of 3M's new $2m state of the art training facility in Blacktown, Sydney.

The event attracted a wide range of prominent players from insurance companies, collision repair shop owners, training organisations such as TAFE, equipment suppliers and community-based charities which specialise in assisting the transitioning of students from school to the work force. The launch also attracted television media coverage from Channel Seven news.

During the course of the day AAPR secured over 140 new job pledges.
